Abstract:

Soils are being marketed as a possible remedy for the current climate problem because of their capacity to store carbon. The foundation for a better future is laid below. Although they may not be visible from city skylines, healthy soils bring a variety of benefits, from fresher air and cooler interior temperatures to stronger neighbourhoods and better nutrition. Healthy soil is the unseen foundation of any city, quietly fostering healthier air, cooler streets, and more resilient urban life. In 2026, the connection between healthy cities and healthy soils is recognised as a crucial component of urban resilience and public well-being. Healthy urban soil is essential to sustainable and climate-resilient urban growth, which also directly improves inhabitants' quality of life and slows down climate change.
